SimSTAFF Supporting the Army Central Command

simstaff-blog3SimSTAFF Participation in Support of JEMS Contract

In August of 2009 SimSTAFF was solicited to support L3 Global Security and Engineering Solutions of Huntsville, Alabama on their JEMS contract with ARCENT. ARCENT’s desire was to gain an understanding of how training derived through lessons learned in theater and delivered at staging areas in the Middle East and Southwest Asia were being correlated at training locations CONUS.
To accomplish this task, ARCENT sought a General Officer and support staff that had experience with training for forward deployment. SimSTAFF’s unique capability of recruiting individuals in the simulation and military training realm were leveraged for this task. SimSTAFF identified a retired USMC General and 5 retired officers to act as our Reception, Staging, and Onward Movement analysis team. These individuals were specifically chosen for their previous military functions and capabilities regarding training systems and doctrine.
SimSTAFF’s team traveled to Camp Beuhring, Kuwait to gain an understanding of how the training being used at Camp Beuhring for reception, staging and onward movement for Operation Iraqi Freedom could be mirrored for a more distributed staging environment existent for Southwest Asia. In an effort to conform with policy and directive for a more efficient and rapid RSO, the team was tasked with recommending areas of training conducted at Camp Beuhring that could be conducted OCONUS prior to staging OCONUS.
Upon return stateside, our team conducted a similar training capability assessment and content analysis at several training locations CONUS. This was done to gain a further understanding of ARCENT’s capability to implement correlating training content to that being conducted at Camp Beuhring to decrease training cycles prior to RSO.
The team then delivered their recommendations inclusive of their analysis of training and RSO functions in ARCENT’s AOR. This briefing was delivered to the Third Army/ARCENT G7.
SimSTAFF was successful in compiling a team to meet this challenge due to our unique understanding of the simulation and training environment and industry supporting the Warfighter. Through our highly effective and successful practice of knowledge based recruiting we were able to build the desired team rapidly and effectively. We were able to quickly deliver a solution to ARCENT and L3’s needs.
